Digging In

When things get piled high, and stuff comes at me from all directions, my instinct is to run and hide under my pillows and never come out. It feels like a mountain of commitments and responsibilities and projects are looming over head. I wallow for a while in the depths of self-pity but eventually I get tired of that and long to see the sunshine. I grab a shovel and start digging my way out, one step at a time. I just take whatever is immediate and in front of me and deal with that, then I move onto the next hurdle. By holding to the rod, I am able to work my way up to see the light of day. What a glorious feeling to look back and say "I did it!".
