watering can

Ok, so it's weird how much I enjoy simple pleasures sometimes. I had been looking for a solution to watering the flowers on the deck without having to drag the hose up there and make a big mess. When I was at walmart I saw the perfect solution... a watering can! Decorative and functional at the same time! I was out watering my flowers this morning thinking about how much I enjoyed doing it with the can, tipping it up ever so slightly as the gentle shower of water falls on the petals like a quiet spring rain. Very satisfying :)

water dog

I really should NEVER be allowed to turn on a hose and walk away. I'm really too ADD for that and always end up creating a lake because I get caught up in another project, like mashing up Twitter with TwitPics with my iPhone and Facebook. What can I say? I'm a geek at heart and it's easy for me to lose track of time (and water) when I get caught up in something fun. At least the dogs got to splash around!

Spring Flowers

Love lots of color! This is what the garden looks like currently. I can't wait to see what it looks like when everything starts growing in :)

you can't make me like you!

I brought Jessie in tonight to see how she would do with the puppy. I sat on the floor and let him run around. It was so funny. She totally refused to even acknowledge he was in the room. She practically climbed in my lap, just stealing a glance his way once in a while. Meanwhile, he's acting like a total clown, "will ya play with me, huh huh? aw come on, play with me will ya? how about if i pull your tail? will ya play with me then?" She didn't growl, she just got closer to me and pretended he didn't exist. After a while, I got up on the couch. She was laying on the floor and he was running up her like a ramp trying to use her to get on the couch. It was TOO freaking funny because she was still trying to ignore him. Finally she gave in and decided he wasn't horrible and started playing. But as you can see from the pictures, she was less than impressed with his cuteness!

it's all for the goats

Had half the Thundering Herd helping me to cozy up the shelter for part of the Goat Herd with a tarp and an extra wall when we got home from town. The clouds are ominously dark and threatening to pour out buckets from the heaven's above and it was our task to keep Buttons warm! Fortunately we got things set up ahead of the storm, unlike other times when we weren't so lucky. Oh the things we do for our animals :)

country road

Needed some time to think and process this morning so I set off down the road for a walk. I always like walking as a way to clear my head and process my thoughts. I had camera in hand, of course. On the way I passed old barns, a "gem" of a school, and a church with Civil War tombstones. You always see so much more when you take the time to walk, listen, and look around. By the time I got back, two hours later, I was in a much better frame of mind and could focus. What a beautiful place!

eggs

Eggs! Fresh Eggs! Straight from the chicken's butt Eggs!

Ok, so maybe that last one was a little over the top... but the girls are finally kicking into production. I'm so tired of those brittle shelled, runny yolked, who knows how old things they sell in the stores. We got the chicks at the end of May and sometime this weekend while we were gone, they finally decided it was time to squeeze out their first efforts. We only got a half dozen, but there are about 20 hens, so we'll be up to our ears in liquid chicken before we know it!
