Today's Topic - Where Can I Find Online Classes?

OK, so you have determined that online classes are for you and you want to take more. Where can you go to find courses? To the California Virtual Campus, of course! The CVC lists classes from community colleges, private universities, California State University system, and the University of California system.

The CVC catalog lists over 6500 courses from over 130 schools throughout the state. If it's not listed here, it may not exist! Users can search the catalog by semester, keyword, institution, delivery mode, or subject. Follow the links below to see if there is an interesting class for you!

Help and Tips

The US Department of Education recognizes the need to evaluate the implications of distance education for student eligibility requirements for financial assistance. They are currently considering measures that would allow students to receive financial assistance as long as they are carrying a full load of 12 units, regardless of how many schools they are enrolled in. Visit http://www.students.gov/ to keep track of the latest information on distance education and financial aid.

Visit http://www.cvc.edu/catalog/ and browse through the resources there. Search for courses you might be interested in taking.

Discussion Board

There are two parts to the discussion today. First, Select 3 courses from the CVC catalog that look interesting to you. Answer the following questions:

What is the name of the course?

What college is offering each class?

What are the requirements for enrollment?

Would you consider completing a degree program online? Why or why not?

Next, visit the Students.gov website and check out the resources there. Pick out one that looks interesting and explore it. Share with the class what you found and why you think it is useful/interesting. Make sure to include the URL (website address) of the page that you are talking about.

When responding on the discussion board, please use complete sentences and paragraphs. You should try to write at least 100-150 words (1-2 paragraphs)
