The class is meant to be a hands-on experience applying what you know about web design to meaningful projects. This semester you will have the opportunity to choose what you want to learn about. That's right... you get a choice! Some ideas include learning about new software (Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.), learning new coding skills (style sheets), learning web programming languages (PHP), or learning about creating and using multimedia (audio, video, etc.). These are just a few ideas. You can pursue something else related to web design if you create a proposal for it.
You will decide what you want to learn about, then create a plan to support that learning. You will learn, reflect, construct, discuss, and exhibit. You will collaborate with your classmates and support their learning efforts. This is a blended class. We have online students as well as on-campus ones. We will work together in a virtual space called Moodle.
There is no assigned text book for this class. You can refer to the Web Design Resources or visit the Web Weaver's Bookshelf list I posted on Amazon. The resources, in print and online, that you need will depend on the project you are pursuing.
You will be placed into "learning circles" which are small groups that will help each other through this process. I will assign these in the first few weeks of the term.
