Ridgecrest Charter School (2008-present)

• Governing Board Member - selected for a third term as the Staff Representative to the Board by the administration and faculty.

Expanding Your Horizons (2007-present)

• A conference for young women to learn about career opportunities in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering and technology. The event provides students personal contacts with women working in occupations traditionally held by males (grades 4-10).

High Desert Mojave Greens 4-H Co-Community Club Leader and project leader (February 2011-present)

• Asked to become community club leader for a new youth group in the high desert town of Phelan, CA.
• Oversaw the development and adoption of a new club Constitution and Bylaws.
• Coordinate (by managing and facilitating) the team that provides support, guidance, and direction to 4-H members and the club.
• Is the primary contact person for the club with the San Bernardino county 4-H staff and the county 4-H Leaders Council.
• Promotes the 4-H club, and its mission and programs to the community.
• Ensures compliance with and adherence to University of California 4-H policies, procedures and core values by parents, volunteers and members.

I Can Go To College Day (2006-present)

• Over 500 local 5th graders come to the college for the day to learn what it is like to be a student here. I am always asked to host a robotics demonstration for the kids. Each session has between 70-80 5th graders and lasts about 25 minutes. We usually do 3 sessions a day over two different days. It's a whirlwind crazy way to spend a morning, but tons of fun!

Robotics for Middle Schoolers (Summer 2009, 2010)

• Facilitated a week-long robotics camp for middle school children to introduce them to STEM concepts through the planning, design, and implementation of a LEGO robot as it completes a complex challenge.

Cal Poly High Desert Master Plan Committee (2006-07)

• Represent Cerro Coso Community College at the CPHD meetings
• Participate in the creation of a master plan to submit to the State of California requesting the placement of a university in the Lancaster-Ridgecrest area.
• Work with the CPHD chair and college president to bring upper division engineering and computer science courses to Ridgecrest through distance education technology.

Desert Empire Fair (October 2006, 2007)

• Organize a robotics demonstration in Sage Hall for the duration of the fair
• Coordinate with the LEGO contest and supply judges for the competition
• Creation of a Robotics competition category

• Participate in the initial mentorship meeting in February and the follow-up session in October.
