Professional Goals 2003-2004
Distance Education
- Write distance education component for Title V grant with a goal of offering an online AA degree by the end of the grant period.
- Pursue grant funding for development of Internet Assistant program (Online Help Desk).
- Distance Education brown bag lunch/breakfast series
Curriculum Development
- Develop Dreamweaver course that would be offered in Fall 2003.
- Work on collaboration web design project with Cerro Coso and Bakersfield colleges.
- Submit web design certificate requirements for inclusion in the Information Systems certificate.
- Creation of a plan of action for an online general education degree.
Recruitment of new student populations.
- Distance education – participate in marketing program (radio, print, online) to outreach to rural and mountain communities, re-entry student populations, transfer students, etc.
- Web design - work with local high schools to inform students of the availability of web design and information systems programs within the district.

Management Responsibilities
- Distance Education Coordinator
- Work with division chairs to encourage online course offerings.
- Support full-time and adjunct online instructors with technology, communication, and other issues.
- Encourage online instructors to attend DE conferences.
- Work with faculty to encourage the move toward web-enhanced, hybrid, and online courses.
- Work with faculty to develop skills for teaching at a distance.
- Survey students who have dropped online classes to try and determine reason and develop solutions for variables within our control.
- Participate in district online instructor evaluation pilot, Spring 2003.
- Distance Education Committee Chairperson
- Work with committee members to develop strategies for increasing retention in online classes.
- Encourage development of campus services for online students.
- California Virtual Campus Advisory Board
- Participate in planning and advisory meetings.
- Provide support for CVC activities and conferences.
- Work on developing a “Best Practices” training module.

- Recruit and coordinate student workers.
