There are many programs available that extend the functionality of Twitter. Click the links to the left and try some out. I'm sure you will find a few that you like! The Twitter Fan Wiki is a great place to find tons of Twitter-related tools.

Web-Based

Desktop-Based

Desktop applications are ones that you install on your own computer. There are many of them available. I have not tried all of these. Make sure you read the installation requirements and directions carefully before installing, and make sure you download from a reliable website to minimize the chance of problems.

A more comprehensive list of Twitter Applications is available on the Twitter Fan Wiki:

Mobile Apps

Many of the desktop applications make a mobile version. I use the Twittalator Pro app on my iPhone and really like it because I can upload pictures/media as well as geotag my tweets. They all have different features. Try a few out and see which one you like the best. Some of these links will open in iTunes.
